Share post:

Atossa Therapeutics, Inc. (NASDAQ: ATOS), a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company, announced the issuance of a new patent for its breast cancer treatment formulations, specifically U.S. Patent No. 12,281,056. This patent covers enteric oral formulations of (Z)-endoxifen, a Selective Estrogen Receptor Modulator (SERM), and its use in treating breast cancer. The formulation includes 58 claims related to the drug’s purity, stability, and therapeutic application.

This new patent strengthens Atossa’s intellectual property portfolio and supports its leadership in developing targeted therapies for hormone receptor-positive breast cancer, including prevention and metastatic breast cancer. The company’s oral formulation of (Z)-endoxifen is designed to bypass the stomach, preventing conversion to inactive forms of the drug and enhancing its efficacy.

Atossa’s strong financial position, with a current ratio of 15, reflects its robust short-term liquidity. The company is advancing clinical research on (Z)-endoxifen, which has shown efficacy in patients resistant to other hormonal treatments. Analysts have a positive outlook on Atossa, with price targets ranging from $4 to $7.25, and the stock is currently deemed fairly valued.

In other news, Atossa reported better-than-expected Q4 2024 earnings, with an earnings per share (EPS) of -0.04, surpassing forecasts. The company’s financial improvement is attributed to reduced operating expenses. The ongoing development of (Z)-endoxifen, including its Phase 3 SMART 2.0 trial, aims to provide pivotal data for regulatory approval, strengthening Atossa’s position in breast cancer treatment and prevention.
