In a gesture of support amid Russia’s invasion, the Netherlands has supplied Ukraine’s Border Guard Service with a mobile field hospital. The deployment of this hospital is anticipated near the front lines, aiming to offer urgent medical care to wounded Ukrainian soldiers.
The mobile hospital is well-equipped, featuring an operating room, intensive care units with 36 beds dedicated to treating injured soldiers, and accommodations for medical personnel. Notably, the hospital’s adaptability to cold conditions is highlighted as a key feature, ensuring its effectiveness in challenging environments.
The Border Guard Service has announced that Ukraine’s military medics will soon utilize this mobile hospital to provide crucial medical assistance to injured fighters in eastern Ukraine.
This isn’t the first instance of the Netherlands extending support to Ukraine. In December, the Netherlands delivered three Role 2 modular field hospitals, transported on nine trucks and accompanied by six trailers and six Toyota Land Cruiser medical evacuation vehicles. These hospital modules have been specifically adapted for cold weather conditions, offering increased bed capacity and featuring new air conditioning systems. The hospitals are also equipped with a water supply system, including showers.
Since July 2023, Dutch manufacturer Hospitainer, with the backing of the Dutch government, has been actively supporting Ukraine’s Border Guard Service. The assistance includes the provision of 18 Toyota Land Cruisers, 10 Role 1 modular field hospitals, five Role 2 modular field hospitals, five refrigerated vehicles, one dental module, and nearly 90 cubic meters of medical supplies.
The ongoing collaboration reflects the commitment of the Netherlands to aid Ukraine in bolstering its medical infrastructure and capabilities, particularly in regions affected by conflict.
